‘Every citizen who answer[s] the call of the country - policemen and women, our security and emergency services, our health services - all le[ave] their mark on this island's story by keeping us safe. They are the pride of Britain.
‘Just as our armed services with bravery and heroism every single day also make us proud. We mourn those who have been lost and we honour all those who in distant places of danger give so much to our country.’
So spoke Gordon Brown yesterday at the Labour Party conference in Bournemouth.
In response to the patriotic sentiments here expressed, one feels tempted to respond:
'True, Gordon, all too true. But in all honesty, can you really consider that you and your party have helped to keep the British people safe during your term in office rather than imperilled their safety?
‘With your full cognisance and active support, the government of which you have been part has during its term knowingly and deliberately encouraged immigration on an historically unprecedented scale that has arguably reduced the safety of the native inhabitants of Britain in all manner of ways.’
‘The per capita economic gains from immigration have been shown to be negligible. The aggregate benefits have been very unevenly distributed, flowing predominantly to employers and of course the immigrants.
'Meanwhile, the ordinary British public has had to bear all the very real social costs in all manner of ways: overcrowded roads, trains, schools, hospitals and doctors’ surgeries, lower wages than they would otherwise have earned, and even less affordable accommodation private and public than would otherwise have been available.
‘Then, there is the problem of increases in drink driving, human trafficking, credit card fraud and knife crime that Julie Spence the chief constable of Cambridgeshire last week claimed immigration has brought in its wake. The safety of the British has hardly been augmented by any of this.
‘Also, let us not forget the way your government has directly imperilled the safety of the British people through enacting the Human Rights Act which in several cases has prevented the authorities being able to deport or detain foreign terror suspects and criminals.
‘Was it really out of consideration for the safety and well-being of the nation your government adopted all these measures? Or was it rather, as Minette Marrin pointed out in her column in last week’s Sunday Times, because it has been found that black and ethnic minority voters favour your party over the Conservatives by a ratio of almost 6 to 1?’
‘Perhaps, it was also because, at the last election, your party suffered a decrease in electoral from Muslim voters that accounts for your party's recent volte face over whether to allow more Muslim state schools, something that many think will undermine rather than enhance social cohesion and hence the safety of the nation.
‘In sum, Gordon, you may think that, in speaking as you did yesterday, you cleverly appealed over the heads of fellow party members to reach out to middle-England voters to reassure them of your credentials by invoking traditionally conservative values such as patriotism. But I very much doubt whether they will be fooled by what you have said yesterday. One at least wasn’t.’

I live in a Labour heartland where most have no idea about anything. Brown's vote is guaranteed because dad and mum voted this way.
Having never heard a speech, let alone checked out his Marxist past, nor the communist past of the majority in cabinet.
Even the smiley Milliband boys' dad was a communist, so one can imagine their line of thought drummed into them as children.
I suggest to all readers that have any concern for what was once a lovely country checkout COMMON PURPOSE GOOGLE IT.
The Tories are not free of this ugly evil and sinister organisation that has infiltrated every area of this country which again we pay for.

I would have to disagree with the author's statement that the voters will not be fooled by the Brown speech.
I would suggest that if the boy David and his Islington gang do not get their act together soon, then the dour jock will lay claim to being a master magician: he will have fooled all the people all of the time.
Look at his government's record which has been documented by the author, yet Labour are still in front in the polls.
Why? Because they have spent their time in office building up the client state, quashed any adult and meaningful discussion on the issues that concern the public; immigration, housing, violence by Muslim extremists, social discord, fredom of thought and expression.........etc etc.
They have achieved this by censorship, using political correctness, and the stigmatism of racism flung at anyone who dares challenge the kow-towing to Muslims, orwho mentions the social discord brought about by multicultuism. or even speak up for the British people and their values.
Also by extending their dogma via state institutions, with the use of diversity officers, ehnic co-ordinators. Thus are those who challenge the political orthodoxy tainted or hounded out of jobs.
Very clever. Do not underestimate the likes of Brown and his cohorts.
And where are Her Majesty's opposition? Cowering in some Hampstead wine bar no doubt, and about as deadly as a chocolate frog.

Immigration, immigration, immigration - the conquering sword of Islamic da'wa, peaceful jihad. Colonel Qaddafi can sit back and let it all happen. No need to lift a finger. The apprentice dhimmis of the EU and Britain are doing a great job. Three decades the colonel gives us before we become a minority in our own country.
Gordon Brown and his party have not only allowed it to happen but have actively promoted a demographic takeover as they participated in the EU decisions that created Eurabia.
Nor can they stop it as they chase more immigrant votes, the more the merrier for the Labour Party, the more the problems for the rest of us.

Thank you, David Conway, for saying what so many folk in Middle England and for that matter in hither Scotland think about Gordon Brown.His unctuous praise for our Armed Services is at variance with his studied neglect and indeed contempt for those who are prepared to give their lives for their country. Like so many others of his kidney his altruism is of the more questionable sort, seeking to lavish his cheap concern on every folk but his own.For him, charity, provided by the British taxpayer,goes to Africa to swell the Swiss bank accounts of dictators and to inflate the population growth of peoples who more critically need birth restraint in equal measure with aid.
Gordon Brown began his political career proper as the Marxist editor of an Edinburgh University students' equivalent of Chairman Mao's Little Red Book.This devious politician will use every artifice, pseudo Christian or neo-nationalist to have his way, but, "Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard his spots?"
