Islam-Is-Peace group launches new campaign

Islam-Is-Peace, a Muslim pressure group, has today taken out several adverts in British newspapers which read: "Muslims across Britain would like to wish everyone a happy Eid. This is a time to reflect on all our shared values."

The newly-founded group - profiled by the Centre here - has previously refused to disclose how it can afford such expensive advertisements or who its leaders are. Members of the group who have spoken to the press include some who have been closely linked to the Muslim Association of Britain, the UK branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Speaking to the Asian News on the launch of its latest, lavishly-funded campaign, Ifhat Shaheen, the group's campaign co-ordinator, said: "This is an opportunity that could not be missed."

"It isn't often that the festivals of the three Abrahamic faiths coincide so closely to each other and British Muslims across the country felt that we should celebrate and share that goodwill with people of all faiths and no faith."

A reader of the Asian News has responded to the newspaper's article by leaving the following comment: "You can have as many campaigns as you want. Everything I see and read about 'the religion of peace' tells me that it's anything but peaceful."

Such reactions to the Islam-is-Peace movement are to be expected until the group begins publicly opposing those British Muslims who do not believe that "Islam Is Peace". Until that day, the activities of this shady group will inevitably be written off as little more than a well-funded PR campaign.
