The Radical Middle Way, a Muslim group funded by the Foreign Office to promote a tolerant, democratic and British form of Islam, has organised a new series of events.
The events - marketed under the name 'The Dangerous Ideas Tour' - include poetry-recitals, rap and music concerts in cities around the UK. They are a marked departure from previous Radical Middle Way events, attended by members of the Centre for Social Cohesion, where the speakers called on Muslims to impose Sharia law and re-create the caliphate.
The launch of the 'Dangerous Ideas Tour' concides with a re-design of the Radical Middle Way website which sees the group remove all traces of speeches given by some of its more controversial guests.
However, as recently as 29 March, the group organised three events for converts to Islam entitled 'Reaching out to 'New Muslims'' which featured conservative scholars who run austere madrrassahs in Yemen.
Although there is no record of what was said at these events, it seems unlikely that they contained much in the way of the tolerant, modern and liberal Islam which the Radical Middle Way was established to promote.
