Reports emanating from India suggest that "British citizens of Pakistani origin" took part in the recent terrorist atrocities in Mumbai.
A local Indian TV news channel initally reported the British connection, which Erika Mann, a German MEP trapped in the Taj Mahal Palace has said that the "attacks appear to have a European dimension". She said that several sources have assured her that "British citizens participated in the assaults."
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has said the Government had "no knowledge" of any British suspects, while Gordon Brown has said he "would not want to be drawn into early conclusions" over the claims.
