Yesterday Bilal Abdulla was sentenced to life in prison after he was charged for the attempted car bomb attacks in central London and Glasgow Airport in June 2007. He has been found guilty of a conspiracy to murder and cause explosions.

Abdulla, an Iraqi born in Britain and raised in Baghdad admitted in court that he was a ‘terrorist’ as defined by UK law, yet added that he did not want to murder people but to frighten the public. However, he went on to accuse the British government and Army of equally committing acts of terrorism in Iraq.

Abdulla’s accomplice, Kafeel Ahmed died from injuries caused by the burning car in Glasgow Airport, which failed to detonate but set alight by the two men. Mohammed Asha, a Jordanian who was also charged for the attempted bomb attacks, has been cleared of any involvement but faces deportation back to Jordan which he is fighting. Asha claims that although he knew Abdulla and Ahmed, he had no knowledge of their bomb attacks.

Abdulla and Asha were working in the NHS as doctors.
